Casio has expanded its unconventional approach to wearable design with the launch of the G-Shock Nano DWN-5600 — a miniature take on the brand’s signature toughness, now built to fit on a finger. Announced for release in Japan this November, the new ring watch reimagines Casio’s classic DW-5600 model in a form factor that blends novelty with the durability long associated with the G-Shock line.
Following last year’s CRW001 ring watch, the Nano DWN-5600 is the first in the series to carry full G-Shock branding. It replaces the earlier model’s limited, spacer-based fit system with a proper adjustable strap, allowing users to resize it from 48mm to 82mm — a change that makes it more comfortable and practical for daily wear. The strap is made from G-Shock’s familiar resin material, giving the ring a rugged finish while maintaining flexibility.

The DWN-5600 will be available in Japan in black, red, and yellow for 14,300 yen (around $94), with listings also appearing on Casio’s European sites at €99.90 (about $115). A U.S. release is expected but has not yet been confirmed. Compared with the first ring watch, which launched at a higher price and even included a gold variant, this edition is both more affordable and more closely tied to Casio’s design heritage.
Functionally, the Nano DWN-5600 retains the basics of the CRW001: a six-segment LCD display for the time, stopwatch, calendar, and alarm. A small LED backlight illuminates the screen when the alarm sounds or on command, and three buttons on the case manage all controls. Despite its tiny footprint, the device maintains the 200-meter water resistance typical of G-Shock watches, meaning it’s designed to handle everything from handwashing to swimming without issue.

The ring watch runs on a replaceable battery rated for two years of use. Casio advises users to have the battery changed professionally to maintain the waterproof seal — a small but practical reminder of the engineering that goes into even the brand’s smallest timepieces.
While it may seem like a playful novelty, the G-Shock Nano DWN-5600 highlights Casio’s ongoing experimentation with form and function. It distills the rugged, utilitarian spirit of the original G-Shock into a piece of wearable tech that’s more conversation starter than essential gadget — but still unmistakably Casio.
