Onyx has unveiled the Boox Palma 2, the latest iteration of its compact e-reader. Building upon the foundation of its predecessor, the Palma 2 introduces several enhancements that aim to elevate the reading experience.

The Palma 2 retains the 6.13-inch E Ink Carta 1200 display of the original Palma. This screen size offers a more portable reading experience compared to larger e-readers, while the 300ppi resolution ensures sharp text.

Onyx has equipped the Palma 2 with a faster octa-core processor, promising smoother performance and a more responsive user interface. The device also receives a significant software upgrade, moving from Android 11 to Android 13. While still trailing behind the latest Android version, this update brings a newer software foundation and includes an AI assistant.

Like its predecessor, the Palma 2 runs on a customized Android operating system, providing access to the Google Play Store and its vast library of e-book apps. This allows users to download and read books from various sources, including Amazon Kindle, and utilize other Android applications.

The Palma 2 introduces a fingerprint sensor integrated into the side-mounted power button for added security and convenience. Additionally, the device retains the 16MP rear camera with flash for document scanning, dual microphones, and speakers, making it suitable for listening to audiobooks and podcasts.

The Boox Palma 2 is available for pre-order in Ivory White and Deep Cyan Black, priced at €299.99 / $279.99.

Alongside the Palma 2, Onyx also announced two new e-readers: the Note Air 4 C and the Boox Note Max. The Note Air 4 C is a color e-reader with an upgraded refresh rate, faster performance, and a new tablet-style user interface. The Boox Note Max boasts a large 13.3-inch E Ink Carta 1300 display in a slim design. These new models further diversify Onyx’s e-reader offerings, catering to a wider range of user preferences and needs.
