Best of IFA 2025: the gadgets and innovations that stood out this year

IFA 2025 has once again shown why it remains one of the most important tech showcases in the world. This year’s event highlighted not only futuristic prototypes but also real-world devices that will be hitting shelves in the months ahead. From adaptive laptops and foldable phones to chemical-free cleaning robots and satellite-powered pet trackers, the theme was clear: smarter, more flexible, and more connected products designed to integrate seamlessly into everyday life.

Adaptive laptops and AI-native PCs

Lenovo grabbed attention with two bold concepts that rethink the laptop experience. The Smart Motion Concept introduced a motorized, AI-assisted stand that can lift, tilt, and rotate automatically, keeping the user in frame during calls and adjusting ergonomics on the fly.

The ThinkBook VertiFlex Concept offered a pivoting display that can shift between portrait and landscape modes—ideal for everything from spreadsheets to reading documents. Together, these prototypes signal a push toward more adaptive, user-aware hardware.

Acer, meanwhile, delivered practical answers to AI integration in personal computing. The Swift Air 16 comes in at just 1.2 kg, making it lighter than Apple’s MacBook Air while costing less than €1,000, showing that true ultraportability doesn’t have to demand a luxury price. The Swift 16 AI is one of the first laptops built on Intel’s Panther Lake platform, with dedicated NPUs that power local AI tasks like transcription, adaptive performance tuning, and video background effects without taxing the CPU or draining battery. These machines point to an era where “AI PCs” aren’t just a buzzword but a standard expectation.

Powerhouse machines for professionals and gamers

On the professional side, the ThinkPad P16 Gen 3 made headlines for its sheer specs: AMD’s Ryzen Z2 Extreme processors paired with blistering 8000 MHz memory, all wrapped in a 16-inch OLED chassis with ISV certification. It’s clear Lenovo wants to keep its workstation dominance by delivering desktop-class power in mobile form.

Gamers had their share of eye candy too. The Acer Predator Helios 18P sported a massive 18-inch high-refresh display and top-end GPUs, a clear play for those who want desktop-grade performance without sacrificing portability. Lenovo’s Legion Go 2 showed how handheld gaming PCs are maturing, with an 8.8-inch OLED screen, detachable controllers, and beefed-up AMD Radeon 890M graphics. Better cooling and battery life make it a much stronger hybrid option for players who want console convenience with Windows PC flexibility.

Samsung’s big year in tablets, foldables, and displays

Samsung used IFA to reinforce its dominance in both mobile and TV. The Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra became the company’s thinnest and most powerful tablet yet, with a vibrant AMOLED 2X display, an improved S Pen, and Galaxy AI integration for real-time summaries, translations, and creative workflows. It’s designed to serve as both a tablet and a laptop replacement, especially with enhanced DeX desktop features.

In TVs, Samsung’s Micro RGB TV was a milestone. It’s the first display to fully meet BT.2020 color standards, thanks to microscopic RGB LED chips smaller than 100 micrometers. The result is unprecedented color accuracy that blurs the line between digital and reality. Hisense countered with its 116-inch UX RGB-MiniLED TV, a massive screen with advanced backlighting that delivers premium HDR at a fraction of MicroLED pricing, signaling that ultra-large home cinema is becoming more attainable.

Smarter wearables and AR

AR glasses, long considered clunky, may finally be approaching mass appeal. The Rokid Glasses proved that smart eyewear doesn’t need to be bulky or awkward. Lightweight and stylish, they overlay navigation, productivity tools, and entertainment content without the heavy headset aesthetic.

Appliances and cleaning robots step up

IFA 2025 also underscored how home appliances are embracing AI and sustainability. LG’s HeatPump WashCombomerged washer and dryer into a single unit while using AI-driven fabric care to save energy without compromising performance. Its Steam Robot, available in two versions—one with a compact dock and another doubling as designer furniture—promised chemical-free floor sterilization with automated pad cleaning.

Ecovacs impressed with the DEEBOT X11 Pro Omni, the first robot vacuum to feature GaN fast charging and a bagless cyclone station. With its ability to recharge during mop rinses and resume cleaning almost continuously, it’s pushing “set and forget” closer to reality. Narwal’s Flow carved out a niche with a mop-first approach, featuring high-speed rolling pads and mid-clean self-washing to ensure dirt isn’t spread around. Roborock’s F25 Ultra leaned into deep cleaning, with TÜV-certified 150°C steam sterilization, powerful suction, and advanced illumination to reveal hidden dust.

Home security and power solutions

Outdoor security also evolved. The Baseus Security X1 Pro combined wide and telephoto lenses into a single dual-camera system, reducing the need for multiple units, while the Reolink TrackFlex Floodlight WiFi paired smooth AI motion tracking with built-in floodlighting for affordable, all-in-one home protection.

Power users got new tools as well. Anker’s Prime Series introduced a 300W airline-friendly power bank and a GaN charger for multi-device setups, offering serious portability for travelers. Jackery’s Solar Roof presented a modular, foldable solar system for campers and off-grid living, highlighting the trend toward renewable, user-friendly energy solutions.

Pets join the smart tech wave

Even pets weren’t left out. The PetPhone introduced a connected collar with GPS, LTE, health monitoring, and even two-way audio so owners can talk to their dogs. The SATELLAI Tracker took things further by using satellite connectivity, ensuring location tracking even in areas without mobile coverage—a serious step forward for off-grid safety.

The bigger picture

IFA 2025 wasn’t just about gadgets—it was about integration. AI is now baked into laptops, tablets, and even appliances, not as a gimmick but as a meaningful productivity and energy-saving tool. Foldables are shedding their experimental tag. AR glasses look less like prototypes and more like everyday accessories. Home robots are smarter, faster, and less dependent on chemicals. Even power and pet tech are aligning with bigger consumer demands: sustainability, reliability, and peace of mind.

The best products of IFA 2025 weren’t simply about specifications—they showed how tech is maturing to adapt to human needs in smarter, more subtle ways.
