Apple’s Swift Student Challenge, a global coding competition that encourages students to explore the world of app development, will be back in February 2025. The challenge invites students to showcase their creativity and technical skills using Swift, Apple’s powerful and intuitive programming language.
Submissions for the 2025 challenge will open in February and remain open for three weeks. Aspiring young developers, educators, and those supporting them can learn more about the challenge and sign up for application notifications at developer.apple.com.
This year, Apple will recognize 350 Swift Student Challenge winners whose submissions demonstrate exceptional innovation, creativity, positive social impact, or inclusivity. Among these winners, 50 Distinguished Winners will receive special recognition and an invitation to Apple’s headquarters in Cupertino next summer.
Preparing for the Challenge
To help students prepare for the challenge and foster a sense of community, Apple has updated its Swift Coding Club resources. The Swift Coding Club starter kit provides activities and materials that encourage students to explore Swift and SwiftUI, Apple’s user interface framework.
Additionally, new Develop in Swift Tutorials offer a comprehensive introduction to app development using Swift, SwiftUI, and Xcode, Apple’s integrated development environment. These resources provide students with the tools and knowledge they need to build innovative apps for Apple’s platforms.
The Swift Student Challenge serves as a platform for young developers to showcase their talents, learn new skills, and connect with a global community of like-minded individuals. It’s an opportunity for students to gain valuable experience and potentially launch a future career in the exciting world of app development.
