Apple’s Notes app may soon get a math-focused upgrade

Rumors suggest Apple is working on a new “Math Notes” feature for its popular Notes app across iPhone, iPad, and Mac devices. Expected to debut with iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and macOS 15, this upgrade could make the app a powerful tool for students, educators, and anyone working with mathematical calculations.

What is Math Notes?

Sources indicate “Math Notes” will allow users to incorporate mathematical notation directly into their notes, alongside existing content types like text, images, and scanned documents. This could transform the app into a more versatile workspace for solving problems, taking class notes, or collaborating on math-heavy projects.

Integration with Apple’s Calculator

The feature is also rumored to integrate with the stock Calculator app. This could mean seamless transfer of calculations into your notes, eliminating the need to manually retype complex equations.

Caveats and Timeline

While the concept is exciting, details on the user interface and specific functionality remain limited. Apple is likely to unveil the first public beta versions of its iOS 18, iPadOS 18, macOS 15, and other operating system updates following their WWDC keynote on June 10th. This will give us a clearer picture of any potential “Math Notes” features.
