Apple has introduced a second-generation Vision Pro Developer Strap designed to offer significantly faster data transfer between the Vision Pro headset and a Mac. The new strap supports speeds up to 20 Gbps, a major step up from the 480 Mbps limit of the first version that debuted in early 2024.
Visually, the updated accessory looks nearly identical to its predecessor, retaining the same right-side audio connection point. It attaches through the Vision Pro’s right audio strap slot and connects to a Mac via USB-C. Apple says the upgrade enables smoother and faster workflows for developers working with visionOS, particularly when testing, deploying, or transferring large application builds.
The strap is listed as compatible with both generations of the Vision Pro — the M2-powered model released in 2024 and the newer M5 version. While Apple has not specified whether the M2 headset can achieve the full 20 Gbps rate, the connector design remains consistent, suggesting at least partial support for the improved transfer speeds.
For developers, the accessory provides a more stable alternative to wireless transfers, which can be slower or prone to interruptions during app testing and device restoration. The wired connection also allows for reliable diagnostics, making it the only official method for establishing a direct Mac-to-Vision Pro link.

The second-generation Vision Pro Developer Strap is now available through Apple’s Developer website for registered developers in regions where the headset is sold. In the U.S., it is priced at $299, with deliveries expected to begin later this week.
Apple first introduced the Developer Strap in February 2024 alongside the original Vision Pro headset. This updated release refines the same utilitarian design but focuses squarely on performance — a change aimed at developers who need faster, more dependable data handling for app development on Apple’s spatial computing platform.
