Apple has released an updated version of its MagSafe Charger, now certified for Qi2 25W wireless charging. The charger is available to order with either a one-meter or two-meter built-in USB-C cable, priced at $39 and $49 in the United States.
The main difference from the previous generation is support for Qi2 25W, also referred to as Qi 2.2. This standard expands compatibility beyond Apple’s own devices, allowing the new MagSafe Charger to deliver up to 25W wireless charging speeds to smartphones such as Google’s Pixel 10 and other Qi2-certified models.
For iPhone owners, the update doesn’t bring a speed increase compared to the last version. The MagSafe Charger already supported 25W wireless charging for iPhone 16 and iPhone 17 models (with the exception of the iPhone 16e). Those same devices, once updated to iOS 26, can also use any Qi2 25W charger from third-party brands like Belkin or Aukey.
This marks the third revision of Apple’s MagSafe Charger since its debut in 2020, with the latest update primarily focused on bringing it in line with the broader Qi2 ecosystem. Qi2 is the Wireless Power Consortium’s attempt to unify wireless charging standards, offering magnetic alignment similar to MagSafe and ensuring faster, more consistent charging across brands.
