Apple reportedly developing a doorbell camera with Face ID and heart-tracking AirPods

Apple is reportedly developing a new smart doorbell camera that incorporates Face ID technology, allowing users to unlock their doors with facial recognition. This development aligns with rumors of Apple’s renewed focus on the smart home market.

The doorbell camera is expected to function similarly to Face ID on iPhones, automatically unlocking the door when it recognizes a resident’s face. It is likely to utilize Apple’s Secure Enclave chip for secure storage and processing of biometric information.

While a release date has not been confirmed, it is speculated that the camera could launch by the end of 2025. The device may be compatible with existing HomeKit smart locks or potentially offered as part of a complete system in partnership with a smart lock company.

This development adds to the growing speculation surrounding Apple’s smart home initiatives, which reportedly include new smart home cameras, an Apple-branded TV, and smart home displays with innovative features.

In addition to the doorbell camera, Apple is also reportedly working on AirPods Pro 3 with heart rate monitoring capabilities. This feature would allow users to track their heart rate during workouts and other activities without needing to wear an Apple Watch.

These developments suggest that Apple is actively exploring new ways to integrate health and smart home technologies into its product ecosystem.
