Apple has expanded its music transfer tool to the UK and seven other countries, allowing subscribers to move playlists and libraries from rival streaming platforms into Apple Music.
The feature, which debuted in Australia and New Zealand earlier this year, is now available in Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, Mexico, and the United Kingdom, according to an update on Apple’s support pages.
Built in partnership with SongShift, the tool enables users to migrate saved songs, albums, and playlists directly into Apple Music. Transfers can be started within the Music app on iPhone or iPad by navigating to Settings → Apps → Music → Transfer Music from Other Music Services. For those who don’t see the option, the process can also be initiated via the Apple Music web app by logging in and selecting “Transfer Music” from the account menu.
Apple Music automatically attempts to match imported tracks with its catalog. Any songs that can’t be matched are flagged for user review. The tool currently supports only user-created playlists, excluding editorial or algorithmically generated lists from competing platforms such as Spotify.
The expansion signals Apple’s intent to make switching services less of a hurdle for potential subscribers. Moving libraries has historically been a major sticking point for users invested in competing ecosystems, and Apple’s decision to integrate a native solution removes the need for third-party apps or manual rebuilding of playlists.
While the rollout is still limited, the wider availability across North America, Europe, and Latin America suggests Apple may be preparing for a global launch in the near future. For now, the addition gives Apple Music a more competitive edge against Spotify by directly addressing one of the key pain points for would-be switchers.
