Apple is reportedly working on revamping Siri with advanced AI capabilities

Apple is reportedly working on a significant upgrade to its Siri voice assistant, aiming to make it more conversational and capable. According to a recent report, this enhanced version, tentatively called “LLM Siri,” will be powered by Apple’s own AI models and will enable more natural and interactive conversations with users.

This move is part of Apple’s broader strategy to integrate advanced AI capabilities into its devices. The revamped Siri is expected to be better at handling complex tasks, interacting with third-party apps through App Intents, and performing functions like summarizing and writing text using Apple Intelligence.

While Apple might announce these plans as early as next year, the actual rollout of the new Siri is projected for the spring of 2026. In a recent interview, Apple’s senior vice president of software, Craig Federighi, hinted at how an AI-enhanced Siri would differ from existing AI models like ChatGPT. He emphasized that while AI models like ChatGPT excel at tasks such as answering complex questions and generating creative text formats, Siri focuses on practical, everyday tasks that are tightly integrated with Apple’s ecosystem.

Apple’s approach to AI integration has been relatively cautious compared to some of its competitors. The company only recently introduced a ChatGPT integration into Siri as part of the iOS 18.2 beta. However, Apple has other AI-powered features planned for Siri, including the ability to understand on-screen content and perform actions within apps, which are expected to arrive next year.

This development signals Apple’s commitment to advancing its AI capabilities and enhancing the user experience across its devices. While the full extent of these upgrades remains to be seen, the future of Siri appears to be headed towards a more intelligent and versatile AI assistant.
