Apple has introduced a redesigned web interface for the App Store, giving users direct access to the full browsing experience from any desktop or mobile browser. The overhaul replaces the long-static apps.apple.com landing page, which previously redirected visitors to a generic promotional section of Apple’s website. Now, the domain functions as a full-featured App Store accessible online, mirroring the layout and navigation found in Apple’s native app platforms.
The updated site brings together all of Apple’s app ecosystems under one roof, including dedicated sections for iPhone, iPad, Mac, Vision, Watch, and TV. Each category can be accessed through a toggle menu in the upper-left corner, allowing users to switch seamlessly between device-specific app libraries.
One of the most notable additions is a web-based version of the “Today” tab, the editorial front page familiar to iOS users. This section showcases featured apps, developer stories, and curated collections, reflecting Apple’s ongoing emphasis on human curation rather than pure algorithmic discovery. The web App Store also highlights ongoing events and top chart rankings, creating a more engaging, media-rich browsing experience.

App product pages have been redesigned to present more detailed and visually dynamic content. Each listing now includes enhanced iconography for categories, awards, and events, along with improved media previews. These changes bring the web experience closer to what users see within Apple’s mobile ecosystem, aligning visuals, typography, and layout across platforms.
Search has also been overhauled. In the past, finding a specific app online often required using Google to locate the correct App Store link. The new built-in search interface streamlines this process, allowing users to look up apps directly within Apple’s own ecosystem. The goal is to make discovery easier while keeping traffic within Apple’s domain.

The move suggests Apple’s growing focus on cross-platform accessibility and unified branding for its services. It may also reflect a practical shift toward improving discoverability and user engagement beyond its native devices. For developers, the richer presentation offers a more consistent showcase for their apps, potentially increasing visibility and downloads.
By extending the App Store’s reach to the open web, Apple is positioning its marketplace not just as an app distribution tool, but as a broader promotional platform that bridges its hardware and service ecosystems.
