AirPods Max 2 now available to order in the UAE

Apple has opened pre-orders for its latest over-ear headphones, the AirPods Max 2, following their announcement earlier this month. The new model is now available through Apple’s online store, with initial deliveries in the United States scheduled between April 1 and April 3. While the release keeps the same overall design as the original AirPods Max, the updates focus on internal hardware and software features rather than a visual overhaul.

At AED 2,099, the AirPods Max 2 remain positioned at the higher end of the consumer headphone market. The most notable change is the addition of Apple’s H2 chip, which has already been used across other recent AirPods products. This upgrade brings a set of computational audio features that aim to refine noise control, voice clarity, and overall listening experience.

AirPods Max 2 vs AirPods Max: what’s actually new, what’s improved, and is the upgrade worth it in 2026?

According to Apple, active noise cancellation performance has been improved, with claims of up to 1.5 times better effectiveness compared to the previous generation. This is attributed to updated audio processing algorithms that can more accurately detect and reduce ambient sound. Transparency mode has also been adjusted to sound more natural, which may make it more usable in everyday environments where situational awareness is important.

Several software-driven features are included, such as Adaptive Audio, Conversation Awareness, and Personalized Volume. These tools attempt to automatically adjust sound output based on surroundings and user behavior. Voice Isolation is another addition, designed to improve call clarity by minimizing background noise. A real-time translation feature is also supported, though its practical performance will likely depend on language support and integration quality.

Audio output has been refined with a redesigned high dynamic range amplifier. Apple suggests this results in more consistent bass response and clearer mids and highs, along with improved spatial accuracy. While these claims align with typical iterative audio updates, actual differences may be subtle depending on listening conditions and user expectations.

One small but notable functional addition is the ability to use the Digital Crown as a camera shutter control for an iPhone or iPad. Connectivity has also been updated to Bluetooth 5.3, which can offer improved efficiency and stability, though the real-world impact may vary depending on device compatibility.

Battery life remains unchanged at up to 20 hours with active noise cancellation enabled. Charging is handled via USB-C, continuing the shift away from Apple’s previous Lightning connector. The headphones also support wired lossless audio playback at 24-bit/48kHz when connected via USB-C, which may appeal to users looking for higher fidelity options outside of wireless limitations.

The AirPods Max 2 continue to ship with Apple’s Smart Case and are available in the same range of colors as before, including midnight, starlight, orange, purple, and blue. Overall, the update appears to focus on incremental improvements rather than a major redesign, which may make it a more relevant upgrade for new buyers than for existing AirPods Max users.
