Samsung 75” Neo QLED 8K (QN900A) TV Review

With TVs changing every year, It’s not that often that something new comes along and really grabs our attention, specially that the incremental changes don’t usually impact the upgrading trends immediately. But when it comes to the 2021 Neo QLED from Samsung, I can say, this really impressed us, and I would even say – blew our minds off!

Let’s have a look and see what Samsung is offering with their new Neo QLED 8K series:

Design and Display

Straight to it, once the set is on, it’s going to be hard to miss how the image just fills the entire screen, which is nearly bezel-less (0.9.mm). The impressive edge-to-edge glass pane is incased in metallic rim. Samsung was able to achieve this design by using Mini LED technology or as Samsung call it, NEO QLED, which are thousands of  tiny little LEDs  that are smaller than standard LED panels. This quantum tech allows far a greater contrast in colors, resulting in a stunning display outcome.

The display supports 60Hz and 120Hz, enabling you to connect your gaming console flawlessly. With the Neo QLED boasting 33 million pixels, and the display is just outstanding, detailed and sharp with rich colors and deep blacks.

There are no ports on the side of the TV. Samsung is using its “One Connect Box” which houses all the ports and is connected to the TV by a single cable. The box has four HDMI 2.1 ports (one eARC), three USB ports, an ethernet port, an optical port, and an RF antenna input.

Software and features

Software wise, Samsung uses Tizen as its operating system. To start, pressing the home button allows you to select from your favourite apps. In the UAE, the remote control comes  with dedicated buttons for Netflix and Amazon Prime, and MBC’s Shahid VIP. The QN900A remote doesn’t have batteries. Instead, it relies on a panel on the back that absorbs light to charge it. Additionally, it can be of course charged thought the USB-C port on the bottom.

Additional features include:

  • Samsung’s assistant – Bixby
  • Web browser
  • SmartThing app
  • Mirroring DLNA,
  • Multi-View options supporting up to 4 videos
  • Built-in 360 Degree video player and  supports a 360-degree camera

As previously mentioned, gaming on this set is an absolute delight with the support of a range of features like Auto Game Mode (ALLM),Surround Sound, Super Ultra-Wide Game View, Game Bar,  FreeSync Premium Prom, Game Motion Plus, and Dynamic Black EQ,

Sound

Sound wise, Samsung is using the sides (left – right) of the TV to output the sound with its 10 internal speakers – 80W 6.2.2 channel audio system. Additionally, Samsung has added its Object Tracking Sound (OTS) Pro, which consists of  four mid/bass drivers at the bottom of the rear and two tweeters.

For  the purpose of our review, Samsung also provided their Q950A Soundbar which comes with three speakers and a subwoofer. The sound system added a noticeably greater experience while watching, achieving near cinematic experience. The entire package was impressive. The Q950A soundbar is Dolby Atmos and DTS:X ready out of the box.

Verdict

Samsung’s QN900A Neo QLED 8K TV is just pure impressive. The bezel-less package with its 8K and superior color reproduction is a must buy if you have the budget for it. The official price in the UAE Is set at 29,999.00 AED and can be bought directly from Samsung here. Of course, the model comes in 2 other size variants at 65” and 85”.
