Meet the Motorola Edge 30,  Motorola’s premium mid-range smartphone that packs a big screen enclosed in a very slim body.

Design & Features

The Moto Edge 30 is positioned as the thinnest 5G phone on the market at 6.79mm, and weighing 155 grams. The Moto Edge 30 comes  in Meteor Grey, Aurora Green and is IP52 rated for water resistance. The Edge 30 came with a 33W USB-C charger and cable, a set of USB-C wired earphones and a transparent case.

Motorola is well known for its great build quality, and  the Edge 30 just reaffirms that! The Edge 30 is a super device to look at with its smooth finish, light weight and premium quality all-around. The back is plastic, but it feels super premium and very sturdy.

The bottom of the phone houses the SIM tray, USB Type-C port and a dual speaker grille. The right side has the volume rockers and a power button. Overall, the speaker quality is great and, very loud and is equipped with the multidimensional sound of Dolby Atmos®.

The device also supports Bluetooth 5.2, Wi-Fi 6E, NFC, and 13 5G bands.

Display

Display wise, Motorola’s opted to go with a  a 6.5-inch 2400×1080 pixel AMOLED display capable to go up to and impressive 144Hz refresh rate with Full-HD+. The refresh rate can of course be dialed down to 60Hz. The display has a hole-punch cutout for the selfie camera and an under-display fingerprint, which is very responsive.

The Motorola Edge 30 offers a vivid display, and the HDR10+ support delivers a great viewing experience with clear, and sharp content. Additionally, the display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3.

Camera

The Edge 30 packs a triple-camera setup consisting of a 50MP primary shooter (with OIS support), a 50MP ultra-wide with 114-degree field of view and a 2MP depth camera, while the front packs a 32MP selfie camera. The rear camera can shoot videos at 4k@30fps, and 1080p@30/60fps while the front can shoot videos at 4k@30fps and 1080p@30fps.

Camera Samples

Overall, the camera setup delivers good quality images, which are sharp, color accurate and with good color reproduction. The ultra-wide lens also delivers great details with good colors and well balanced dynamic range.

Performance & Battery

The Moto Edge 30 runs the latest version of Android 12, with Motorola’s My UX and plenty of personalization. Additionally, Motorola is promising two years of updates.

Under the hood, the Edge 30 packs the Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G+ 5G processor with 8GB of RAM and up to 256 GB of storage. Overall performance is excellent for this range of smartphones and easily outperforms some of the best rated smartphones in the same category. Gaming did well in our test, specially taking advantage of the display’s 144Hz refresh rate.

Battery wise, Motorola claims a 32 hours life on its 4,020mAh battery. Realistically, and based on our usage and testing, we got around 24 hours from the usual social media browsing, watching some YouTube videos, emails, and browsing. The Edge 30 comes with 33W fast wired charging, which can charge from 0 to 100% in about 45 minutes.

Verdict

The Motorola Edge 30 has definitely impressed us and is much recommended, specially with its price tag. The Moto Edge 30 is priced at AED 1,599 and can be found at major retailers and online platforms.
