This week, DC fans got a taste of what’s to come in the upcoming DC Multiverse, and we here at Absolute Geeks are here to give you a quick recap of things you might have missed.
The Flash

The recent episode of The Flash saw the introduction of minor DC villain The Turtle, who possesses the ability to slow down the people around him. While simultaneously trying to come up with a solution to the whole Zoom problem, team Flash now has to deal with this metahuman who loves to mess with everyone and steal expensive items. The team figure out his next move and plan to set a trap while Barry, with the intention of revealing his secret, invites Patty along so that he can open up to her about a big part of his life. This all stems from a worried Patty who felt that she needed to confide in Iris about Barry being too guarded. The Turtle outsmarts team Flash and consequently kidnaps Patty in an attempt to punish The Flash. In the Turtle’s lair, he reveals his intentions of sort of freezing Patty in time, just like he did with his wife (I thought the women on this show were dramatic, would you look at this guy?). But our favorite speedster steps in at the right time, generating enough speed to knock the Turtle out, thus saving the day yet again. But in other non Barry/Patty related news, we find out Jay Garrick is dying – much to the dismay of Caitlin who appears to have found comfort in Jay after losing Ronnie. Joe tries his best to form a relationship with his estranged son, who really needs to chill with the attitude.
And just when you think that was it, The Reverse Flash returns! I was really excited to see him (Matt Letscher) back and I can’t wait to see what the showrunners do with this character. Maybe we’d even see Eddie again? The possibilities are endless.
Arrow

In Star City, the search for Damien Darhk continues, while Felicity goes through surgery after surgery after being shot during an attack on Oliver. Oliver seeks information out of Captain Lance in order to find Darhk’s location, but only to find dead Ghost soldiers when he reaches Darhk’s now abandoned lair, which an anarchy symbol painted in blood. We all know what that means – Machin is back and is out for blood. Team Arrow tracks Machin down, and while Thea tries to fight off her bloodlust, the team try to find out what Machin knows. Oliver soon sets Machin free but tracks him so that he too could get to Darhk and get his revenge. Machin then goes after Darhk’s wife and daughter, who are rescued by team Arrow and Machin escapes. As a repayment to Oliver, Darhk gives Oliver more time to spend with his family before killing him – how generous.
The end of the episode shows the graveyard scene yet again, but this time we get a confirmation that isn’t Felicity who is in the grave, since we see her in the car crying when Oliver gets in. Here’s who I think it could be:
- Captain Lance; Darhk eventually finds out Lance was betraying him and helping out Oliver, and decides to kill him instead of Laurel like he threatened.
- John Diggle; Darhk figures that there’s no better way to get revenge on Oliver than by killing his best friend. Oliver and Felicity both look extremely broken up during the scene, which makes sense considering the three of them had such a strong bond and were all best friends.
Well, we still have half a season to go until all the theories are put to rest.
Legends of Tomorrow

Arthur Darvill is back in yet another show that features time travel and a time machine that proves to be smarter than mankind itself (all we need are cameos from Karen Gillan and Matt Smith and every Whovian will explode).
The year is 2166; Vandal Savage has now conquered the planet and kills what appears to be an innocent family who could’ve gotten in his way. Time traveler Rip Hunter(Darvill) travels back to 2016 in order to assemble a group of so-called legends to save the world from Savage. Our legendary team consists of Ray Palmer (Atom), Sara Lance, the duo of Jefferson Jackson and Dr. Martin Stein, Carter Hall, Kendra Saunders, Mick Rory and Leonard Snart. Snart and Rory had been identified as villains and probably not the best suited for the job by Gideon, but Rip still went along with it because he believes in them. I don’t think the two would necessarily sabotage the mission, so I’m excited to see them save the world.
Once assembled, the team travel back to 1975 to meet with Professor Boardman who turns out to be Kendra and Carter’s son from a past life, who had been studying Vandal Savage after his parents’ death. Simultaneously, bounty hunter Chronos starts attacking Rip’s ship, but the team comes together in an action packed scene to take him down and they escape. Here, we find out that Rip actually lied to the team of heroes and villains – they weren’t legends in the future, and Rip had stolen the time machine to get revenge on Savage for killing the family we saw in the beginning of the episode.
But with encouraging talks amongst themselves, the team decides to look past this and stay with Rip to take Savage down.
References
Before Savage kills Rip’s son, the little boy makes sure that it is known that his name is Jonas. Marc Guggenheim recently created the character of Jonas Quantum, so this could be a nod to the new character.

Although Rip doesn’t have a son of his own in the comic books, it was revealed that Rip is the son of Booster Gold – no word of an appearance of the hero, but here’s to hoping that Nathan Fillion does make an appearance as the famous character.
