The online market industry in the UAE has made leaps and bounds over the past few years as residents across the country, and indeed the Gulf, opted for buying products from the relative comfort of their homes. Of course, when one starts an online marketplace, it’s only a matter of time before you have to make an app to better cater your customers, and the JadoPado app is finally out.
I’ve checked out a ton of apps, some App of the Week worthy, and others that make me advocate for basic coding being taught in high school. JadoPado, is of the former category. And there’s a simple reason why I instantly put this down as an App of the Week. Fluidity. When compared to similar apps catering to the region, the JadoPado app is quick, yet still offers smooth transition animations.
Booting up the JadoPado app gives you a simple home screen that isn’t too cluttered. You can immediately start shopping by departments, take a look at what’s in your shopping cart, or tap the profile icon in the top right, which opens up a menu where you can change the country, edit which currency is seen and even open a store. You’re also prompted to sign in or sign up to a JadoPado account, something you’d have to do to proceed with purchasing items. However, you can still add things to your cart before proceeding to log in.
A slide-out menu from the left, which can be accessed by tapping the top left menu icon, opens a bigger list of categories. Furthermore, when tapping on a category, such as electronics, you’re shown an even lengthier sub-category to help you nail down what you’re looking for. And if you don’t think what you’re looking for is in a category, you can simply search for it via the big green search icon near the bottom of the screen.
Much like the website, the JadoPado app lets you purchase a plethora of different goods, directly from the sellers. For instance, finding a cover for my LG G5 is as simple as entering those words in and being presented with a list of goods, with their prices shown, and if I want to see which company is selling them, I can simply switch to the list view for a few added details, including how much I’m saving. Once I found a suitable product, tapping on it provides a clean, uncluttered page that lists the essential information about the product, including the delivery price and date, condition of the product, a brief description and information about the seller.
I can then choose to do the following: inquire more about the product by contacting the seller directly, share my find over any form of media, add it to my shopping cart or purchase it instantly. You can get shipping estimates for a huge number of countries and regions (including Antarctica funnily enough), before proceeding to secure your checkout, where you enter your shipping address, phone number and so forth. You can then review your order, including the payment method, choose which method of shipping you want (cash on delivery is an option for some products– it is dependent on the seller) before confirming your purchase.
It’s an app that actually surprised me in terms of its relative smoothness and speed when it comes to pulling results from its database. That said there are a few bugs and quirks; the funniest being typing “lg” into the search bar instantly crashing the app (this kept happening, and as a result I had to copy the words “lg g5 cover”. However, considering this app came out less than a week ago, I can let it slide. Furthermore, this crash only happened on the Android version of the app, the iOS version was unaffected.
You can download the JadoPado app from the Apple App Store here and the Google Play Store here.
