Sharge ICEMAG 2 review: the coolest power bank you probably don’t need, but might want anyway

TL;DR: Sharge’s ICEMAG 2 is a Qi2-certified wireless power bank with active cooling, magnetic charging, and pass-through capabilities. It won’t set any speed records, but for the right user (read: iPhone + MagSafe die-hards), it’s a slick, capable accessory that prioritizes design and convenience over raw power.

The Qi2 Unicorn Arrives: A Power Bank with Ambition

After testing what feels like a small village’s worth of power banks, very few stand out—until one whirs at you like a miniature Dyson and lights up like a cyberpunk coffee table. That’s the Sharge ICEMAG 2, the first wireless power bank I’ve used that doesn’t just whisper, “I’m charging your phone,” but actively announces it with RGB lights and a fan motor that kicks in like it’s preparing for takeoff.

On paper, it’s not even the most powerful option around. At 30W wired and 15W wireless, the ICEMAG 2 won’t outpace a 65W GaN charger or the latest wired bricks from the likes of Anker or Baseus. But numbers alone don’t tell the full story here.

Form Over Everything (But It’s Solid Form)

This thing is a chunky boy. At 220g and about three times the thickness of your average smartphone, it won’t slip discreetly into your skinny jeans. But it’s built well—zero creaks, nice texture, solid seams, and an exposed PCB window under a glossy acrylic that gives it a cool “tech-core” aesthetic.

The RGB lighting? It’s constant and, annoyingly, can’t be turned off. Cool on your desk. Less cool at night in a dark room unless you’re into that whole RGB-lit-everything ecosystem. I wish Sharge had included a stealth mode.

The fan is the defining physical feature. You’ll hear it kick in when wireless charging or when the power bank is being charged itself. It’s laptop-fan loud but not obnoxious. More importantly, it works—helping the bank stay cool during wireless charging where heat build-up is a real performance killer.

Magnetic Alignment… Kind Of

If you’re an iPhone user with MagSafe, you’re golden. The ICEMAG 2 will attach firmly, charge reliably, and look good doing it. Android users? Prepare for a little DIY. My Galaxy S25 Ultra doesn’t have magnets (Samsung, please), so it slides unless I’m using a magnetic case or one of those stick-on rings.

Despite lacking magnets, its design and internal metal bits let it hold position decently well. Not perfectly, but enough for casual tabletop use. If you plan to carry your phone while charging, though, get a MagSafe-compatible case.

Everyday Performance and Quirks

Here’s where it gets interesting. The ICEMAG 2 supports a solid range of protocols: PD3.0, PPS, Quick Charge, Apple 5V/2.4A—you name it. It also does pass-through charging, so you can juice up your phone and the power bank at the same time.

In real-world use, charging my Galaxy S25 Ultra was a mostly smooth experience. But I did run into weird inconsistencies. Sometimes it would swap between “fast charging” and “super fast charging” for no obvious reason. This could be a Samsung handshake issue (they’re picky with PPS 3.0), or it could be a subtle flaw in ICEMAG 2’s protocol negotiation. Either way, it wasn’t a deal-breaker—reconnecting the cable often solved it.

Wireless speeds hover around 15W tops, and they do feel slow next to modern wired chargers. But let’s be honest: wireless is about convenience, not speed. And the ICEMAG 2 does convenience well.

Battery Math and Real-World Numbers

Sharge claims a 10,000 mAh battery, which translates to 36Wh. But the rated capacity—the real usable juice—is around 6,000 mAh. That’s standard. In practice, it’ll give your 5,000 mAh phone a full charge and a little extra. If you’re hoping for multiple top-ups, especially wirelessly, you’ll be disappointed.

That said, the low-current mode is a nice touch. Holding the power button cycles the mode for trickle-charging smaller gadgets (like earbuds), and the LED indicators help gauge remaining capacity. The last blinking light means you’ve got 10% left. No surprises there, but nice to see attention to usability.

The Final Charge: Is It Worth It?

This power bank doesn’t scream for attention with insane wattage or massive capacity. But it carves out a unique space with a blend of thoughtful design, useful features, and Qi2 compatibility that puts it slightly ahead of the curve. At $79, it’s not cheap—but it’s not overpriced either, considering what it does.

If you’re a MagSafe iPhone user, this is one of the better portable charging experiences you can get in 2025. If you’re an Android user willing to tweak your setup (magnetic ring, anyone?), the ICEMAG 2 is still worth a look.

Just know what you’re buying: a power bank for people who care as much about how their charger looks and behaves as how fast it gets the job done.

Verdict:

The Sharge ICEMAG 2 is a unique entry into a saturated market, offering a Qi2 magnetic wireless experience wrapped in RGB-lit, fan-cooled flair. It doesn’t deliver blazing speeds or bottomless capacity, but it does offer reliable, eye-catching, and genuinely useful charging for the modern phone user—especially those deep in Apple’s ecosystem.
