Nothing, the London-based consumer tech start-up, has recently unveiled its CMF sub-brand in the UAE, introducing a line of three accessories that includes the Power 65W GaN charger. Just for reference, GaN stands for Gallium Nitride, which is a semiconductor material that is efficient and very capable in terms of power-handling. This unique design enables the charger to deliver a robust power output of 65W while maintaining a compact and noticeably lighter form factor.

As a charging solution, the CMF Power 65W GaN charger stands out with its two USB-C ports and one USB-A port. Nothing has ensured compatibility with various fast charging protocols, including PD3.0, QC4.0+/3.0/2.0, SCP, FCP, PPS, AFC, Samsung 9V2A, DCP, and Apple 2.4A. Additionally, MFI-certified cables are supported.

Fast and Furious:

Beyond specifications, the CMF Power 65W GaN charger impresses with its robust power output and efficient heat management. It charges connected devices swiftly while maintaining optimal thermal performance. Devices go from zero to hero in no time, but note: a cable isn’t included. Choose wisely, and stick to reputable 65W options like Belkin for smooth sailing.

The charger supports up to 65W power output on the USB-C ports and up to 36W on the USB-A port. The peak 65W output is achievable when only one USB-C port is in use. In scenarios where both USB-C ports are simultaneously used, USB-C1 delivers 45W, and USB-C2 delivers 20W, resulting in a combined output of 65W.

Power Play: Let’s break down the wattage:

  • Single USB-C: 65W, your device gets VIP treatment.
  • Dual USB-C: 45W + 20W, power sharing keeps everyone happy.
  • USB-A + USB-C: Mix and match, with 18W + 45W or 7.5W + 7.5W + 45W combos.

Verdict:

As an increasing number of phone companies opt to exclude chargers from their packaging, the practical choice is to invest in a reliable GaN charger rather than purchasing first-party chargers separately, especially given their comparable costs. The portability and convenience of a single, versatile charger is a no-brainer. Moreover, it’s worth noting that such chargers contribute to a more environmentally friendly approach, making them a great all in one choice for those constantly on the go.
