Baseus PicoGo AM31 Mini review: the Tony Stark-approved power bank you didn’t know you needed

TL;DR: The Baseus PicoGo AM31 isn’t just a power bank — it’s a lifestyle upgrade. With MagSafe magnets, fast 20W charging, a handy kickstand, and Tesla-inspired battery cells, it punches way above its size. Not the biggest pack out there, but easily one of the smartest.

If you’re anything like me, you’ve had that heart-stopping moment: you’re out, Spotify is vibing, Google Maps is guiding, and suddenly your phone coughs up that dreaded 5% battery warning. The panic sets in. Enter the Baseus PicoGo AM31 Mini Magnetic Power Bank with Stand 20W 5000mAh — a ridiculously long name for something that’s basically a superhero cape for your smartphone.

Let’s dive in.

Design & Build: Pocket-Friendly Meets Geek Chic

The PicoGo AM31 looks like someone at Baseus asked, “What if a credit card, a Tesla battery cell, and a fidget toy had a baby?” Measuring just 3.4 x 2.3 x 0.5 inches, it’s shockingly compact. Slip it into your jeans pocket, backpack, or even the inside pocket of your hoodie and you’ll forget it’s there — until your phone starts crying for juice.

And because Baseus knows we’re a vain bunch, they’ve made it in four flavors: Grey, Pink, Titanium, and Black. Personally, I tested the Titanium one, and let’s just say it looks like something Tony Stark would casually toss on a workbench.

Oh, and yes, it has an integrated kickstand. More on that in a second.

Magnets, How Do They Work?

This thing is MagSafe-compatible (or “11N magnetic force” if you want to sound fancy). Translation: it snaps onto the back of your iPhone with the satisfying thunk of destiny. No fiddling, no cables, no prayers to the charging gods.

The magnets are strong enough that you can actually shake your phone around and the PicoGo doesn’t let go. I tested this by holding my iPhone above my bed and giving it a few “rock concert headbang” shakes. The bank didn’t budge. (My dignity, however, did.)

Charging Power: Fast Enough to Save Your Bacon

Specs-wise, you’re looking at 15W wireless charging (Qi2 certified) and 20W wired charging if you plug in via USB-C. For a 5000mAh pack, that’s plenty. It won’t replace your wall charger, but it’ll absolutely get you through an entire concert, road trip, or a doomscrolling binge.

On my iPhone 14 Pro Max, I got about 1.1 full charges before it tapped out. That’s exactly what I expect from 5000mAh — no more, no less. What impressed me was the charging speed: 0–50% in about 30 minutes wired, and around 45 minutes wireless. That’s “grab coffee, come back, boom you’re good” speed.

And yes, the pack itself charges up fairly quickly too. Baseus claims their Tesla-grade battery tech makes it more efficient and longer-lasting. I can’t scientifically verify the Tesla part (Elon didn’t return my calls), but after a week of daily use, it still performs consistently.

Kickstand: Netflix Anywhere, Anytime

This is where the AM31 flexes. That little fold-out kickstand transforms your phone setup instantly. Stuck in an airport? Kickstand + AirPods = instant cinema. Eating lunch alone? Kickstand + TikTok = socially acceptable loneliness.

It’s a small feature, but it elevates the experience. I never thought I needed a power bank that doubles as a phone stand, but now I’m spoiled.

Heat & Safety: No Pockets on Fire

Wireless charging can get toasty, but the PicoGo stayed surprisingly cool. Even after back-to-back charges, the warmth was noticeable but never uncomfortable. Baseus baked in safety certifications and protections, so your pants won’t spontaneously combust. Always a plus.

Everyday Use: Living With the PicoGo

This power bank basically became my phone’s shadow for a week. The convenience of just slapping it on the back whenever I dipped below 30% changed my charging habits entirely. I stopped hunting for outlets like a desperate mall-rat and just… lived.

Traveling, commuting, working in cafés — it blends in. And when I wanted to binge YouTube at lunch, that kickstand earned its keep.

Downsides: Because Nothing’s Perfect

  • 5000mAh is modest. Great for daily use, but if you’re running a two-day music festival, you’ll need a beefier pack.
  • A bit chunky on slim phones. On a Mini iPhone, it looks like a backpack. On a Pro Max, it looks proportional.
  • Price. At $49.99, it’s pricier than some generic bricks, but you’re paying for design, kickstand, and Tesla-name-dropping tech.

Verdict

The Baseus PicoGo AM31 Mini Magnetic Power Bank with Stand 20W 5000mAh is basically the Swiss Army knife of pocket chargers. It’s small, stylish, snappy, and doubles as a Netflix stand. If you live your life at 20% battery anxiety, this thing will feel like therapy.
