TIDAL, the music streaming platform, is expanding its suite of features to cater to songwriters. Today, the company announced a new set of tools designed to help songwriters manage their catalog, ensure accurate credit, and optimize their royalty payments.

These tools are currently exclusive to US-based songwriters, who must sign up for TIDAL Artist Home to gain access.Additionally, songwriters will be encouraged to register with the Mechanical Licensing Collective (MLC), with those new to a Performing Rights Organization (PRO) having the option to join the digital PRO, AllTrack.

Key Features:

  • Organization: Songwriters can centralize crucial information, including IPI, PRO, and publisher details, within TIDAL Artist Home.
  • Managing works: Categorizing works into “Completed Works,” “Works Without Recordings,” and “Unmatched Recordings” empowers songwriters to track rightsholders, collaborate with their team, and maintain accurate ownership records, maximizing royalty potential.
  • Making sense of metadata: TIDAL aims to simplify the management of music metadata, a critical aspect of ensuring proper credit and royalty collection. The platform now supports collaborative split sheets, facilitating transparent rightsholder tracking and agreement.

Benefits for Songwriters:

  • Streamlined Catalog Management: TIDAL Artist Home becomes a central hub for songwriters to organize and manage their creative output.
  • Improved Accuracy: The tools focus on ensuring accurate credit and ownership information, minimizing payment discrepancies.
  • Collaboration Made Easy: Collaborative split sheets enable transparent collaboration between songwriters and their teams.
  • Increased Earning Potential: By facilitating proper catalog management and metadata accuracy, TIDAL supports songwriters in maximizing their royalty earnings.

US-based songwriters can claim their songwriter profile at tidal.com/forsongwriters. This move by TIDAL reflects a growing recognition of the importance of empowering songwriters and ensuring they receive fair compensation for their creative contributions.
