LEGO debuts a brick-built Game Boy and eight more collector sets at Comic-Con 2025

LEGO is leaning into nostalgia and pop culture in a big way at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con 2025, unveiling nine new sets—highlighted by an intricately designed LEGO Game Boy that’s already generating buzz among retro gaming fans and collectors alike.

A surprise collaboration with Nintendo, the LEGO Game Boy isn’t just a generic brick tribute—it’s a near 1:1 scale replica of the original handheld console, complete with 421 pieces and authentic design elements like the +Control Pad, A/B buttons, and even the contrast and volume dials. While it doesn’t actually power on, LEGO has cleverly included buildable “Game Paks” for The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening and Super Mario Land, plus interchangeable screens to replicate game scenes or the cartridge loading animation.

Set to ship on October 1, 2025, the LEGO Game Boy is priced at $59.99 (US), positioning it as a premium collectible without being completely out of reach. It’s already available for preorder—a smart move considering it’s bound to be a popular holiday gift, especially for nostalgic Nintendo fans and longtime LEGO collectors.

But that’s just the start of what LEGO unveiled on the show floor. Here’s a quick rundown of five standout sets revealed at Comic-Con 2025:

1. LEGO Nintendo Game Boy ($59.99)
An impressive brick-for-brick homage to Nintendo’s original handheld. With two swappable cartridges and screen builds, it nails the look and feel of the retro classic. Perfect for display, and a standout example of what LEGO can do when tech nostalgia meets brick engineering.

2. LEGO Stranger Things BrickHeadz
BrickHeadz returns with a set themed around Stranger Things, just in time for the final season. Featuring 542 pieces, this pack includes Will, Mike, Dustin, and Lucas in stylized form. Fans of the Upside Down can grab it now on LEGO.com.

3. LEGO Batman Arkham Asylum ($299.99)
A massive, nearly 3,000-piece build that recreates the iconic Gotham facility in detail. With 16 minifigures and over 60 stickers, it’s one of LEGO’s most intricate DC sets to date. Preorders open in September for serious Bat-fans.

4. LEGO Wicked Emerald City Wall Art ($159.99)
Adding a fantasy flourish to LEGO’s expanding art series, this set channels the magical palette of Wicked with hidden compartments, four minifigures, and—of course—Glinda’s iconic bubble. Ships September 1, 2025.

5. LEGO Glinda & Elphaba Visit Munchkinland ($69.99)
Also from the Wicked collection, this smaller set leans into imaginative play over display. Featuring bright scenery and fan-favorite characters, it’s designed for younger builders or collectors who want to recreate iconic scenes.

This year’s Comic-Con reveal demonstrates LEGO’s continued push toward adult-focused, pop culture-rich sets that blend nostalgia with display-worthy design. Whether you’re into retro tech, superhero lore, or Broadway musicals, the lineup taps into multiple fandoms without compromising on quality.

And while the LEGO Game Boy might be the most headline-grabbing reveal, the broader takeaway is clear: LEGO isn’t just building toys—it’s curating collectible moments. With more sets expected to drop ahead of the holidays, October and beyond is shaping up to be a busy time for brick enthusiasts.
