Casio has introduced the G-Shock MRG-B2000KT-3A in Japan, a limited-edition timepiece that continues the brand’s long tradition of blending modern engineering with Japanese craftsmanship. Only 800 pieces will be made available worldwide, each one hand-engraved by master metalworker Masao Kobayashi, known for his work preserving traditional metal arts.
The design draws from the tsuba—the ornate guard between a sword’s blade and hilt—an essential part of Japanese sword-making that historically balanced utility and artistry. The bezel of the MRG-B2000KT-3A is decorated with a phoenix motif, carved by hand using the Shishi-Aibori hammering technique. The phoenix, a symbol of renewal and prosperity, is etched into a titanium bezel coated in a green diamond-like carbon (DLC) layer that recalls the dark sheen of forged steel, known as kuroganeiro. Four emeralds are set into the bezel screws, adding both contrast and a symbolic nod to wisdom and spiritual clarity.

The titanium case is patterned to resemble nie, the crystallized grain visible along a tempered sword’s edge. Casio achieves this effect by recrystallizing pure titanium, which is then treated with a brown AIP coating that enhances hardness while introducing a warm copper tone. A small plate marked “2025 LIMITED” sits at the 9 o’clock position, underscoring its collectible nature. The dial transitions from red to orange, with feather-like accents referencing the hamaya, a ceremonial arrow believed to ward off evil. All of these elements are precision-machined at Casio’s Yamagata factory.
The strap, made from dark green Durasoft fluorine rubber, balances comfort with durability. Its Bishamon tortoiseshell pattern—a traditional emblem of strength—complements the watch’s theme. The titanium clasp receives the same brown AIP coating as the case for added protection and consistency of tone.
In terms of performance, the MRG-B2000KT-3A offers 20-bar water resistance, Bluetooth-enabled automatic time correction, Tough Solar charging, and multi-band radio synchronization compatible with Japan, North America, Europe, and China. Other functions include a Super Illuminator LED backlight, world time for over 300 cities, a stopwatch, countdown timer, alarm, and power-saving mode.

Measuring 54.7 x 49.8 x 16.9 mm and weighing 138 grams, the watch features a sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating and a screw-lock crown to enhance durability. Even without wireless synchronization, it maintains an average accuracy of ±15 seconds per month.
The G-Shock MRG-B2000KT-3A will launch in Japan in November 2025 for ¥935,000 (approximately $6,073). Global availability is expected to follow in select markets. Each unit will arrive with a unique serial number and a special presentation box, positioning it as both a functional instrument and a collector’s piece that pays homage to Japanese artistry and G-Shock’s technical precision.
