Dyson has added a new product to its Chitosan hair styling range: a multi-use spray designed to provide flexible, long-lasting hold while maintaining the hair’s natural movement and shine. The spray is intended for use both as a finishing product and as a way to refresh second-day styles such as waves, curls, and coils. It joins the existing Chitosan pre-style cream and post-style serum, offering users multiple options to incorporate into their styling routine.
The formula is based on chitosan, a macromolecule derived from oyster mushrooms, developed with Dyson’s Triodetic technology. Unlike conventional styling products that rely on rigid polymers to hold hair in place, this approach uses a lighter bond structure aimed at preserving softness and avoiding the brittle texture that can come with strong-hold sprays. The product is designed to work across all hair types, even in humid conditions.
Dyson positions the spray as a versatile option for maintaining styles without compromising the hair’s feel. It contains a blend of amino acids, which can help repair signs of surface damage, along with bamboo extract to support smoothness and style retention. Hydrolysed wheat protein is included for its potential to enhance softness and texture.
The spray is non-aerosol, releasing an ultra-fine mist for even coverage. This design allows hair to remain reworkable, so styles can be adjusted without the stiffness associated with traditional setting sprays. While it is suitable for all hair types, the brand highlights its benefits for wavy, curly, and coily textures, where maintaining definition and bounce is often a priority.
The Chitosan range is intended to be used flexibly—either as standalone products or combined for a complete styling regimen. Whether the goal is loose waves, a polished updo, or a smooth blow-dry, the addition of this spray gives users another option for achieving hold without sacrificing the hair’s natural movement.
