Dubai Opera urges caution amid surge in fake ticket scams

Dubai Opera has issued a warning to audiences across the UAE about the rising circulation of fake tickets and online scams targeting live performance events. The organization says fraudulent activity has increased in recent weeks, prompting it to step up digital security measures and coordinate with legal authorities to address the problem.

According to Dubai Opera, these scams not only deceive buyers but also undermine the cultural sector’s credibility. The venue emphasized that official tickets are only available through two verified sources: its own website, www.dubaiopera.com, and the authorized ticketing partner Platinumlist at www.platinumlist.net. Any offers or links found elsewhere should be treated with suspicion and verified directly with Dubai Opera before purchase.

Paolo Petrocelli, Head of Dubai Opera, described the issue as a serious concern for the entire entertainment industry. He urged audiences to remain cautious and to buy exclusively through legitimate platforms. Petrocelli noted that authentic ticketing is central to protecting both audiences and the integrity of live events, ensuring that visitors can attend performances with confidence in the validity of their purchases.

The warning comes as fraudulent ticket listings have become increasingly common on social media and unregulated resale sites. Such scams often involve forged QR codes, duplicated digital passes, or misleading promotional links. Dubai Opera’s move mirrors similar actions taken by major venues globally, many of which are reinforcing ticketing verification systems and tightening resale policies to protect customers.

Since opening in 2016, Dubai Opera has served as a key venue for performing arts in the UAE, hosting a range of theatre, music, and cultural events in Downtown Dubai. The venue said its latest measures are part of a broader commitment to transparency and trust in the live entertainment experience, prioritizing safety and authenticity for all patrons.

For ticket purchases and event information, Dubai Opera advises audiences to rely solely on its official website or authorized partners.
