Casio unveils G-SHOCK MRG-BF1000RG inspired by the world’s largest frog

Casio has introduced a new addition to its flagship MR-G line under the G-SHOCK brand, unveiling the MRG-BF1000RG, a high-performance diver’s watch inspired by one of nature’s more surprising muses—the goliath frog, the largest frog species in the world.

Released globally from July 14, 2025, the MRG-BF1000RG builds on the design and engineering foundations of the MRG-BF1000R, a model first introduced in 2023 that brought the FROGMAN’s iconic asymmetrical shape to the MR-G lineup. Designed for diving professionals and enthusiasts, the new model features ISO 200-meter water resistance, a titanium screw-lock case back, and practical underwater functionality, all within a distinctive form inspired by amphibious resilience.

Visually, the timepiece stands apart with a khaki fluoro rubber band, echoing the earth-toned back of the goliath frog. The band offers high flexibility and a secure, comfortable fit. The beige indexes, referencing the frog’s underside, are treated with Neobrite lume for strong legibility in dark or submerged environments.

The watch’s aesthetic details extend to the sapphire crystal case back, finished with green vapor deposition that evokes the goliath frog’s distinctive eyes. This element adds color while preserving the built-in antenna’s sensitivity for radio-controlled timekeeping—a hallmark of the G-SHOCK line.

From a functional perspective, the MRG-BF1000RG retains features that make it well-suited for actual diving. In Dive Mode, the hour and minute hands overlap to form a single indicator, offering a quick and intuitive display of elapsed time underwater. Three dual-coil motors enable the hands to switch rapidly between standard and dive-specific readouts, emphasizing usability in high-stress environments.

As part of Casio’s G-SHOCK FROGMAN series—long recognized for pushing boundaries in rugged timekeeping—the MRG-BF1000RG combines advanced functionality, military-inspired design, and natural-world influence into a piece that appeals to serious divers and collectors alike.
