Casio has announced a new creative collaboration with designer NIGO®, introducing original G-SHOCK characters inspired by the brand’s most recognizable watch models. The project, unveiled today in Dubai, brings together G-SHOCK’s long-standing identity as a durable, streetwear-linked timepiece with NIGO®’s cultural influence and design sensibilities.
The characters take cues from four of G-SHOCK’s iconic models: the DW-5000 with its classic square face, the DW-6900 known for its three circular digital displays, the GA-2100 with an octagonal bezel, and the GA-110 featuring a larger, dimensional case. Each character reflects not only the physical traits of these watches but also NIGO®’s eclectic design style, which has drawn from music, streetwear, and global pop culture throughout his career.
Casio describes the project as a way to embody the spirit of resilience and risk-taking that G-SHOCK has represented since its inception in the 1980s. The characters are positioned as symbolic figures for people who take on challenges without fear of failure. A dedicated website has launched alongside the announcement, offering visuals, background details, and plans for future animated content that will feature the new designs.
The initiative also includes a special project logo, “OGIN: G-SHOCK,” created by reversing NIGO®’s name. Casio explains the design as a nod to the enduring cultural cycles NIGO® has been part of, and how his perspective continues to reinterpret past influences for new audiences.
NIGO® has been a central figure in global fashion since the 1990s, when his streetwear label gained international attention and helped define the aesthetics of an era. He later launched Human Made, collaborated widely with global brands, and since 2021 has served as Artistic Director at Kenzo. In January 2025, he partnered with Pharrell Williams on a Louis Vuitton collection, further cementing his role in shaping contemporary fashion.
