Remedy Entertainment has revealed that the highly anticipated sequel to its supernatural thriller, Control, will be an action RPG. This marks a departure from the action-adventure style of the original game and suggests a new direction for the franchise.
The announcement came during an investor presentation where Remedy also shared updates on its other projects. Alan Wake 2 has sold over 1.8 million copies, and the “ultimate edition” of Control will be released on Mac in February 2025. Control will also receive a free update next year that unlocks previously released content.
Remedy’s plans extend beyond individual game franchises. The studio is building an interconnected universe that will encompass games like Control and Alan Wake, as well as film and TV adaptations. This ambitious project is still in its early stages, but Remedy has already partnered with Annapurna to explore bringing its franchises to new mediums.
The studio also recently revealed FBC: Firebreak, its first foray into multiplayer gaming, which is also connected to its broader universe. Remedy emphasized its commitment to creating unique and original experiences within its expanding interconnected world.
In terms of development progress, Remedy stated that Firebreak is in full production, while Control 2 is in “production readiness.” Fans can anticipate more details about these projects in the coming months.
