Netflix has officially released the trailer for its highly anticipated “Squid Game” multiplayer video game, “Squid Game:Unleashed,” at the Gamescom video game convention.
The game, described as a fast-paced, heart-pounding battle royale experience, will pit players against each other in deadly challenges inspired by the hit Netflix series. The trailer promises a dark trip down memory lane with familiar games and new ones based on classic childhood activities.
“Squid Game: Unleashed” is slated for release alongside Season 2 of the show on December 26th, though an exact date hasn’t been confirmed yet. The game will be free for Netflix subscribers and available on iOS and Android devices through the Netflix app.
Netflix also announced the upcoming release of “Monument Valley 3,” exclusively on the streaming platform starting December 10th. This marks the first new title in the beloved franchise in over a decade.
The streaming giant has been steadily expanding its gaming division, with over 100 games released to date, including the critically acclaimed “Oxenfree II: Lost Signals.” Netflix currently has more than 80 games in development, including a “Selling Sunset” mobile game.
As Netflix continues its foray into gaming, it recently hired Epic Games’ Alain Tascan as its new head of games. The company is also testing games on TV and computers in several countries, aiming to make its games playable across all devices. During the Q2 earnings call, Netflix executives pledged to release one new video game each month going forward.
