Nothing cements the feel about being an 80s or 90s kid more than fond memories of playing on an Atari. Invariably, if you ever hop onto one of those prehistoric consoles nowadays, you’re more than likely to throw your hands up in frustration and continue gaming on your smartphone instead. It’s been a while since the Atari Jaguar, the last Atari game console that came out twenty-four years ago, but now the company is back in the hardware business.
The “Atari Box” was first teased a week ago, when Atari launched a website for the product. Not much is known about the product; the company is still polishing the design of the product. There is no word on what games will be available nor how powerful the console will be. Considering the colossus of a console the new Xbox One X is, I can only image Atari CEO Fred Chesnais wants his new console to stand out. All the CEO has confirmed is a very vague statement in that “it is based on PC technology.”
Atari’s comeback has been underway for quite some time now after Chesnais bought the company. It has since been making mobile games and turning out a profit.
