Hitman’s latest elusive target pits Eminem against his own alter ego

Hitman World of Assassination is adding one of its more unusual Elusive Targets next month: Slim Shady. The mission brings rapper Eminem into the game in a way that leans heavily on his long-running alter-ego dynamic, casting Agent 47 in the middle of a self-referential feud. Instead of simply featuring a celebrity cameo, IO Interactive has built a scenario in which Eminem hires the assassin to eliminate Slim Shady, presented here as an unrestrained and increasingly dangerous persona that even the artist himself wants to stop.

Revealed during Microsoft’s November 2025 Xbox Partner Preview, the mission is framed as a surreal confrontation between the mature artist and the volatile character he created decades ago. Xbox’s official write-up explains that Slim Shady has taken on an exaggerated, violent life of his own, prompting Eminem to intervene by outsourcing the job to Agent 47. The accompanying trailer hints at tongue-in-cheek references to the rapper’s catalog, including a moment implying that the infamous line about mom’s spaghetti isn’t just a meme this time—it’s a possible assassination vector.

The mission is set in Hokkaido, inside a medical facility that has been reworked into the chaotic Popsomp Hills Asylum. In this version of the level, the line between patients, doctors, and performers is blurred, creating an environment that mirrors the theatrical, distorted world Slim Shady inhabited in Eminem’s earlier work. The character has converted his old operating theater into a makeshift broadcasting studio, using it to deliver erratic live performances to a captive audience. Players track him through multiple interconnected areas, including a recording booth and a so-called Group Training Session, where he attempts to manipulate the staff through a fictional scheme involving weaponized music.

This Elusive Target ties into themes from Eminem’s 2024 album The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce), which depicted a symbolic struggle between the rapper and his younger persona. The crossover continues the Hitman series’ trend of featuring limited-time celebrity missions, joining earlier appearances by Sean Bean, Gary Busey, Jean-Claude Van Damme, and Conor McGregor. These cameos typically play heightened versions of public personas, and Slim Shady fits that pattern—though with an added layer of self-parody.

Hitman World of Assassination remains widely available across platforms, including Switch, PlayStation, Windows PC, and Xbox consoles. The Eminem vs. Slim Shady Elusive Target runs from December 1 through December 31, giving players a month to navigate one of the series’ more eccentric scenarios.
