September’s biggest gaming event in the UAE may have been cancelled but competitive gamers can keep their hopes up this October with the inaugural Yalla Fireside Gathering event at Hub Zero on the 21st of October. The event is being organised by Yalla eSports, a new platform foraying into the competitive scene in the country.
Gaming tournaments are tough things in the Middle East, mostly because there is no underlying platform for it. However, the folks over at Yalla eSports hope to change that. Three friends, Klaus Kajetski, Anas Al Hakim and Tom Laksfoss forged Yalla eSports together to unite the gamers of the region and champion a gaming community and culture that allows professional gamers to flourish.
“Growing up in this part of the world, we’ve always felt left out from the professional gaming scene; no qualifiers, no support, no sponsorships and no organizers. While we’re too old to compete ourselves, we want to pave the way for future gaming stars in this region.”
– Anas AlHakim, co-founder.
The Yalla Fireside Gathering will be a pro-gaming event in Dubai and is already set to become a recurring occasion for everyone passionate about gaming, regardless of skill or experience. For the first regional tournament, Yalla eSports is focusing on Hearthstone, one of the most successful titles featured in professional international competitions to date, alongside other favourites such as League of Legends and, a personal favourite, Overwatch.
At the Yalla Fireside Gathering event, gamers will get to watch 8 of the best pre-qualified Hearthstone players in the region battle it out live before the winner is crowned in the impressive network arena. Furthermore, attendees can also catch a friendly showcase match between 2 teams or enjoy a special ‘Hearthstone’ workshop where you can learn the tricks of the trade and start your very own journey into the world of pro-gaming on one of the many available gaming stations or your own tablet or smartphone.
The best part, however? Attendance is free of cost.
