Update 1.4 brings progression overhaul and major fixes to Dying Light: The Beast

Update 1.4 for Dying Light: The Beast is rolling out this week, and the highlight is the long-requested addition of New Game Plus — a feature players have been asking for since launch. Techland had previously confirmed it was in development, but the studio has now detailed how it will work and what returning players can expect.

With New Game Plus, players can run through Kyle’s story again while keeping all weapons, gear and character progression from their original save. Enemy difficulty scales upward to match the boosted loadouts, and higher-tier loot becomes more common to offset the tougher encounters. The mode can be repeated multiple times, with each completion raising the difficulty even further and unlocking rarer weapons and more demanding enemy variants across Castor Woods. It’s a familiar structure, but one that adds longevity for those who want a reason to return after the main campaign.

Legend levels are also returning as part of the update. This endgame progression system sits above the standard skill tree and rewards players with additional passive upgrades, from extra health to enhanced Beast Mode performance. The higher the difficulty — especially when combined with New Game Plus — the faster players can accumulate XP and convert it into Legend Points. For a game built around movement, combat loops and repeatable encounters, the system gives long-term players something to work toward beyond simple completion.

Techland says the patch focuses heavily on community feedback, addressing a wide range of issues raised over the past few months. Update 1.4 includes ray tracing support on PC and fixes for more than 70 graphical problems. The studio reports that over 200 parkour and navigation issues have also been resolved, indicating broad adjustments rather than targeted tweaks. How these fixes translate to smoother traversal and cleaner environmental interactions will become clearer once players get hands-on time after the patch goes live.

The update arrives with a limited-time in-game reward period. Anyone who logs in between Nov. 27 and Dec. 2 will receive the Bloody Bowie Knife, and double XP will be active until Nov. 30 — a useful boost for those looking to push through Legend Levels or prepare for New Game Plus.
