If you’ve largely missed the biggest mobile gaming app trend to hit the world, Pokemon Go’s taken over the lives of many gamers and even those who don’t game for that matter. Pokemon Go has slowly but surely united the world in giving everyone a chance to catch ’em all! While of course the TRA has been careful to warn users about downloading the app unofficially, it does go without saying that the UAE has a massive player base. If you’re down at any of the major malls in Dubai and you spot a bunch of people walking in groups with power banks and are swiping with one finger, you guessed it, you ran into a Pokemon Go squad. That said, it was only a matter of time before business would begin capitalizing on pokestops.
Heck, Societe Dubai is hosting its no frills club night for those 21 and over on July 28 and the entry is free. The night is said to be filled with ” a giant Pokeball pool which party goers can dive into and hunt for stuffed Pokemon toys, as well as giant Pokemon wandering the club for a photo opportunity. The club will also be laying Pokemon lures during the night as well for those who are going for actually playing Pokemon Go.
For those who aren’t in that age category, Costa Coffee UAE has smartly taken things socially by giving players a free drink provided they catch a pokemon in their store at Mall of the Emirates and take a picture of it. A chunk of pokestops are at MOE and it’s a nice thing for a brand to provide and join in the fun to players who are on the move and want to cool off.

Up next, I try to involve Pokemon Go in my workout routine of walking around the city with interesting results.
