The Resident Evil franchise has gotten a lot of flak over the years. They’ve been releasing mediocre games one after another, each one straying away further from the core theme that made the franchise so loved – survival horror. At some point, it felt as though it took a nose dive into the shooter genre and only lightly delved into horror elements.
But that doesn’t seem to be the case with Resident Evil 7. Capcom seems to be heading back to their roots with this game and that was already made apparent with the P.T.-esque demo that was released months back. The demo was immensely well received, and it gave a ray of hope to those who have been loyal to the franchise. Now Capcom has released another trailer and it’s only reaffirming our new found faith in the game.
The trailer takes place in the Baker mansion which is where the majority of the game is set, and this time around you actually get to see first-hand what the Baker family are like; they are far from being friendly.
This trailer was as an accompaniment to the news that the demo will be receiving an update, this time allowing players to roam more parts of the mansion. Another spot of good news is that the demo is now free for all, as opposed to earlier when only those with PlayStation Plus accounts could access it.
Resident Evil 7 is slated to release on PS4, Xbox One, and PC on January 24th, 2017
