If you’re hoping for the Pokémon Go craze to die down anytime soon, you’re out of luck. In fact, the game is so phenomenally successful – despite being available for download in select markets – that Apple has revealed to The Loop that it broke all download records in the first week of release.
In fact, Apple told me today that the game has set a new App Store record with more downloads in its first week than any other app in history. That is impressive.
This is definitely good news for Pokémon fans, Apple, developer Niantic, and, of course, Nintendo, which has seen its shares double since the game’s release. The game was also just released in Japan, with sponsorship from McDonald’s for 400 branches as gyms and the rest of the branches as Pokéstops.
