Playstation Plus December 2025: a grounded look at this month’s free games

PlayStation’s lineup of PlayStation Plus free games for December 2025 brings together a mix of recent releases and familiar cult favorites, offering subscribers a varied set of genres to close out the year. Beginning December 2, all PS Plus members can claim five titles: Lego Horizon Adventures, Killing Floor 3, The Outlast Trials, Synduality Echo of Ada, and Neon White. Those on PS Plus Extra and Premium will also see Skate Story arrive as a day-one addition to the Game Catalog on December 8. The December 2025 PS Plus free games window runs until January 5, 2026.

Leading the month’s selection is Lego Horizon Adventures, a relatively new adaptation of Horizon Zero Dawn that replaces the series’ typically somber tone with a more accessible, family-friendly approach. It revisits the original story through a simplified lens, shifting the focus toward playful exploration and puzzle-solving. While it keeps the basic premise intact—Aly’s search to understand a ruined world overrun by machines—the Lego format reinterprets the narrative with a lighter touch. For players curious about the Horizon universe but not as invested in dense lore or expansive open-world systems, the smaller scale offers a more approachable entry point.

Killing Floor 3 continues the cooperative shooter’s established formula, emphasizing wave-based combat and weapon experimentation. Up to six players team up to contain outbreaks of Zeds, and the series’ reliance on fast, close-quarters action remains intact. It brings incremental refinements rather than broad reinvention, which should appeal to longtime fans while remaining easy for new players to jump into. The Outlast Trials, another co-op title in the December 2025 PS Plus lineup, takes a darker approach. Built around psychological horror and trial-based scenarios, the game prioritizes tension over firepower. Its structure rewards patience and teamwork more than individual aggression, which sets it apart from more straightforward multiplayer shooters.

Synduality Echo of Ada offers a different type of action, centering on resource hunting in a world populated by hostile creatures known as Enders. Piloting a Cradlecoffin—a mechanized vehicle that functions as both transport and weapon—you play as a Drifter searching for AO Crystals. The game blends standard combat encounters with traversal and light survival elements, echoing design choices seen in earlier mech-focused titles while trying to establish its own identity through smaller-scale missions.

Rounding out the December PS Plus free games list, Neon White stands apart with its blend of visual-novel storytelling and speed-focused first-person gameplay. Rather than following traditional shooter rhythms, it pushes players to optimize movement and timing to shave seconds off each run. Its structure is built for replayability, aimed at players who enjoy experimenting with level routes and competing on leaderboards rather than progressing through a single linear campaign.

Altogether, the PlayStation Plus free games for December 2025 provide a broad range of experiences—from accessible adventure to horror, shooters, and high-speed platforming. While not every title will appeal to every subscriber, the variety helps maintain the service’s value during a crowded holiday season. For anyone managing a growing PS Plus backlog, this month’s mix offers several shorter, tightly designed games that are easier to sample without a major time commitment.
