The next big thing from Blizzard is on our doorstep. Overwatch, the upcoming FPS by the gaming giant, will be launching on the 24th of May. The launch announcement wasn’t entirely smooth however, due to IGN accidentally placing ads for the pre-purchasing of Overwatch (with the launch date shown) all over the site, something that was discovered by Reddit user Deadpoolthegreat. People will remember a similar incident happened for the launch of Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns. Perhaps IGN leaks are the new way of marketing a game?
Overwatch will be coming to Xbox One, PS4 and the PC on the 24th with players who have preordered the game get early access keys that will enable them to take part in a closed beta from the 3rd to 4th of May. If you still haven’t preordered the game don’t worry, an open beta is being held from the 5th to 9th of May.
Overwatch originally began as the in-development Project Titan, an MMO Blizzard had been working on for a number of years; it was pegged as being the World of Warcraft successor. However the project was rebooted, with the development teams being reshuffled and the assets created for the project were used for the creation of Overwatch.
Overwatch is a FPS that features 24 unique classes as well as multiple maps and gamemodes.
To gain early access to the open beta you will have to pre-purchase Overwatch before April 29th.
