Nintendo has been working on a mysterious console for quite some time and it looks like the company has finally lifted the curtain around it. Today, Nintendo announced alongside its annual financial results that the “NX platform” will see its worldwide launch in March 2017. And that’s all they’ve said; nothing else has been revealed about the system so far, beside Nintendo’s claim that it’s a “brand-new concept” although some analysts are already calling it a “backward-looking technology.”
“As far as NX goes, I’ve said it’s different and obviously a new experience. That being said, I can assure you we’re not building the next version of Wii or Wii U. It’s something unique and different. It’s something where we have to move away from those platforms in order to make it something that will appeal to our consumer base.”

The only thing we know about the NX is based on rumours: it may be based on Android and it might be a hybrid platform, with both a home console and handheld unit. The company says that the new Legend of Zelda game will “be the focus” of the company’s showing at the E3 conference in June.
