Fans have been yearning for another Elder Scrolls game for years, ever since the release of Skyrim. Well, they’re getting one now, but not the one they hoped for. While Elder Scrolls: Skyrim was one of the best RPG games out there, Elder Scrolls: Legends is Bethesda’s attempt to break into the realm of digital card games.

Bethesda’s anticipated card game has been in the works for a while now, having been revealed at E3 in 2015. In April 2016, a closed beta for Windows was released. Later on in the year, in August, an open beta for Windows was released. Unfortunately for Bethesda, the game missed its 2016 launch schedule.
Instead, it released on PC just a few short weeks ago and now it’s available on the iPad. Meanwhile, a version for Android tablets is scheduled for April 2017, and the MacOS version is scheduled for May 2017. Smartphone users will have to wait till mid-2017 to see the game come out on iOS and Android.
Right off the bat, Elder Scrolls: Legends faces some stiff competition. Blizzard’s Hearthstone has dominated the digital card game landscape for some while now. Furthermore, Gwent: The Witcher Card Game from CD Projekt Red, the studio behind Witcher 3, is an upcoming digital card game that’s currently in closed beta.
To give it an edge, Bethesda has also announced an upcoming expansion for the Elder Scrolls: Legends, The Fall of the Dark Brotherhood. Coming out in April, it will introduce 25 missions in the new Story, and over the course of all those missions, players will be able to earn playsets of 40 new cards.
