Doom, the iconic game that revolutionised the medium of gaming without even realising what it had begun. When it was announced that a new Doom game was in the works I hit the roof in an attempt to contain my excitement, and after months of whispers, a release date has finally been confirmed.
Bethesda has announced that id Software’s new Doom game will launch globally on May 13th for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and the PC. A new trailer was released with the announcement. Luckily a few of us won’t have to wait till the 13th of May to play it: a beta will be held before the launch, though no details have been announced about it yet.
Fans with extra cash will be pleased; the publisher also has announced a Doom collector’s edition, the centerpiece of which is a 12″ statue of The Revenant, one of the game’s demons. The figure was made by TriForce, which used actual game files from id Software to nail the creature’s look. The beast stands on an LED-lit base and is sure to intimidate anyone who glances at it. The collector’s edition will retail for $120.
Player’s can also preorder the game, earning themselves the Demon Multiplayer Pack, which comes with a demon armor set. The set features three skin variations, six paint colors, and three id Software patterns to put on your armor and weapons. It also packs in six “Hack Modules,” consumable items that can be used in game to give you an edge in the arena.
