As of Tuesday, Disney has announced that they are shutting down its publishing house. The outcome of this being that their toys-to-life franchise ‘Disney Infinity’ will stop being manufactured. With nearly 300 employees cut loose, the chairman of consumer products and interactive media, Jimmy Pitaro, stated that a lack of growth in the toys-to-life market as the prime determent. This coupled with the high cost of developing the products only made it harder for them to keep the division up and running.
However, Disney has stated that they will still be releasing the playsets for ‘Alice Through the Looking Glass’ and ‘Finding Dory’. Sadly, fans of the series will not be able to get their hands on the ‘Star Wars: Rogue One’ set. Disney also added that they will still remain a licensing company but for now they are staying away from game development.
