CD Projekt Red has officially released Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition for macOS, bringing the full experience of the sprawling sci-fi RPG to Apple silicon devices. This isn’t a basic port—macOS users are getting a version optimized specifically for Apple’s Metal API, enabling solid performance across a wide range of M-series chips.
The macOS edition supports everything from the base M1 (with 16GB of RAM) to the newer M3 and M4 models. Players using more capable machines, like the M3 Pro, M3 Max, M4 Max, or M2 Ultra, can expect the game to run at up to 60 frames per second with high-resolution settings. HDR is supported on compatible displays, and Spatial Audio integration works when paired with AirPods.
The Ultimate Edition includes the base Cyberpunk 2077 game, the Phantom Liberty expansion, and all current updates—most notably version 2.3, which introduces new quests, vehicles, an enhanced AutoDrive system, and additional features for Photo Mode. Ray tracing is also available on Macs equipped with M3 chips or better, a rare offering on macOS platforms.
For users unfamiliar with configuring game graphics on a Mac, the release includes a “For this Mac” preset that automatically adjusts resolution and visual settings based on your system. This helps maintain consistent performance without requiring users to manually tweak settings.
The installation requirements are relatively steep: macOS 15.5 or later, at least 16GB of RAM, and between 92GB to 149GB of free storage space, depending on the storefront used (GOG, Steam, Epic Games, or Mac App Store). Importantly, users who already own the game on one of these platforms can download the macOS version at no extra cost.
For a limited time, GOG is offering the Ultimate Edition at a 53% discount, valid through July 23, making this an appealing entry point for Mac users interested in exploring Night City.
With Metal-optimized rendering, native Apple silicon performance, and support for recent macOS features, Cyberpunk 2077 now presents a more complete experience on Mac than many would have expected—even a few years ago. While demanding in terms of hardware and storage, the game finally provides Apple users with access to one of the most talked-about RPGs of the decade in a format that doesn’t compromise on fidelity or content.
