Day one of the Cyber Sports League DOTA 2 GeForce tournament saw numerous teams advance through both the winners’ and losers’ brackets, with the grand finale being held in the late hours of yesterday.
The first teams to battle it out were “runts” and “D’Numbers”, who were scrapping for a chance to get out of the losers brackets where both were placed. Kicking off at around 3PM, runts drew first blood just under two minutes into the game, a number that doubled by four minutes time. Unfortunately for D’Numbers, runts effectively snowballed into a massive lead, with the Juggernaut on runts getting a 9:0 kill/death ratio. D’Numbers finally clinched a kill 12 minutes into the game but, alas, the game was long over. Leading 21 to 1, runts destroyed the Ancient and advanced to the next stage in the Losers bracket.

Meanwhile, “Q Club K” also advanced due to their opposing team “Kuwait-E” not showing up.
The next match took place in the Winners bracket and was a fight between “SnD” and “m4ks”. Stakes were high as the loser would be bumped down to the losers bracket, though they would still have a chance to be crowned winners in the double-elimination tournament. As a result, things got of to an incredible start, with SnD claiming two kills before the runes even spawned. That lead extended to 4-1 by 4 minutes in with Roshan falling to SnD a few minutes later. GG was called just under 22 minutes into the game in what could only be called an unexpectedly one-sided victory to SnD. As a result, m4ks dropped down to the Losers bracket to face off against Q Club K, a team they themselves had sent to the Losers bracket in the first place. A concurrent match between “E-Lab” and “Knownfor” resulted with E-Lab advancing through the Winners bracket for a match against SnD in the semifinals. Knownfor got bumped down to the Losers bracket for a match against runts, a team they themselves had sent to the losers bracket on day one.

The next match of the Cyber Sports League DOTA 2 tournament took place at 5:30 PM and was between “m4ks” & “Q Club K”. A minute into the game and Q Club K drew first blood, a lead they quickly tried to draw out by nabbing some more kills through the first 10 minutes of the game. However, m4ks soon managed to get their wits about them and turned the tables, leading 11-6 by 15 minutes into the game. Just 30 minutes into the game, that lead got drawn out to 34-18 with m4ks defeating Q Club K and advancing through the Losers bracket to the semifinals, with the latter being kicked out of the tournament. Simultaneously, Knownfor defeated runts to advance through to the semi-finals.
The next match took place in the Winners bracket between “E-Lab” and “SnD”. SnD, formerly known as Bendover, quickly drew first blood and managed to take two more kills, gaining a 3-0 lead by 4 minutes into the game. However, E-Lab managed to make a comeback in quick succession, with the score being 5-4 in favour of SnD less than 8 minutes into the game. Back and forth trades continued well into the late stages of the game, with the score 40 minutes into the game being 27-23 in favour of SnD. However, gank by gank, SnD managed to extend that lead and as a result, SnD claimed victory just over 50 minutes into the game with a lead of 41-28.
The next match to decide who would place 4th in the tournament, was between m4ks and Knownfor. First blood was quickly claimed by m4ks as they took down “h o p e” from Knownfor less than a minute into the game. However, by 4 minutes in the odds were evened out with both teams sitting on a score of two kills. Once again, back and forth trades happened during the earlier stages of the game but m4ks soon managed to get the ball rolling extending the lead by 22-10 just over 22 minutes into the game. Keeping a steady lead, throughout both the mid and late game, m4ks managed to grab the victory and advanced to fight E-Lab, just under an hour into the game with the final tallying being 52-37.

The subsequent game between E-Lab and m4ks would decide who would advance to the grand finals to face off against SnD. Despite the best efforts of a Wisp, M4ks soon drew first blood by killing the Zeus on E-Lab’s team under two minutes into the game. That soon evolved into a 3-0 lead two minutes later. However, by six minutes into the game E-Lab managed to even out the odds, only trailing by one kill in the 5-4 score. They soon managed to gain a few kills, finally taking the lead to 9-5. E-Lab managed to show their domination with a complete team wipe just under 15 minutes into the game, giving them free range to farm. As a result, m4ks called GG 25 minutes into the game, conceding defeat.
Once again, SnD would fight E-Lab in the grand finals. The last time the two teams fought was in the Ramadan DOTA 2 tournament.
The Grand finals between SnD and E-Lab would follow a best of three format as opposed to the best of one format the previous matches operated under. With spirits high and the AED 7,500 first place prize on the line, viewers were in for a fantastic few games. Unfortunately, due to technical issues, first blood wasn’t broadcasted but other than that, the match was glorious. E-Lab, having adapted from their defeat earlier in the day, quickly took the lead staying ahead in kills throughout the game. While SnD tried to reclaim the game, GG was called in favour of E-Lab less than 25 minutes into the game. As opposed to the previous game, game number two between E-Lab and SnD was closely fought, with the score being mostly even as kills were traded back and forth. First blood was claimed by SnD, but E-Lab quickly evened the score and continued to do so during the early game. By 30 minutes in, SnD had gained a small lead over their rivals and despite E-Lab’s best attempts at a defense, GG was called 50 minutes in, with SnD winning the second game, letting everything rest on the third and final game of the Grand Finals.

The final game of the Cyber Sports League GeForce DOTA 2 tournament saw SnD get first blood but that victory was short-lived as E-Lab soon garnered a big lead a few minutes later. But at the level these teams were playing, it came as no surprise that SnD once again quickly evened the odds by 16 minutes in. However, E-Lab managed to retain the lead all the way into the late game, but by 44 minutes in SnD had once again clinched the lead. However, a massive team fight 39 minutes in went in favour of E-Lab giving them a 47-42 lead. They maintained the lead well into the late stages of the game, and as a result, over an hour into the game, GG was called as E-Lab destroyed The Ancient, crowning themselves winners in the process and bringing the Cyber Sports League DOTA 2 GeForce tournament to a close.
