Twitch, the popular streaming platform owned by Amazon, has announced a second subscription price increase in a matter of months, causing widespread disappointment among its users.
Effective October 1st, the price of Tier 1 subscriptions on mobile devices will be raised in over 40 countries. In the US,the price will jump from $5.99 to $7.99, a substantial 33% increase. This news comes hot on the heels of a previous price hike in July, which saw Tier 1 subscription costs increase from $4.99 to $5.99 in the US and other regions.
While this latest change affects only Tier 1 subscriptions on mobile and doesn’t impact Tier 2 or 3 subs, users have voiced their discontent. Many are frustrated by the consecutive price increases and feel it will negatively impact smaller streamers, as subscribers may be more reluctant to renew at the higher cost.
