Adobe has launched the Firefly AI app for iPhone and Android, expanding access to its suite of generative AI tools for photo and video creation on mobile devices. This move follows Adobe’s broader strategy to integrate generative AI into its creative software, enabling users to produce and edit stunning visual content using natural language commands.
The Firefly app brings together Adobe’s proprietary AI models alongside offerings from third-party partners like Google, OpenAI, Runway, and others. Users can generate images and videos, apply effects such as Generative Fill and Generative Expand, and even transform images into videos—all from their smartphones. The app syncs with Creative Cloud, allowing creators to seamlessly continue projects between desktop and mobile.

At Adobe’s recent Max event in London, the company announced key updates for Firefly, including support for high-end AI models from new partners and enhancements to Firefly Boards—a collaborative workspace for managing AI-generated content. Firefly Boards now support video generation, iterative image editing, and integration with Adobe Docs, streamlining teamwork and presentations.
Adobe’s partner AI models available in Firefly include Black Forest Lab’s Flux series, Ideogram’s Ideogram 3.0, Google’s Imagen 3 and 4, OpenAI’s image generator, and Runway’s Gen-4 Image. For video, models include Google’s Veo 2 and 3, Luma AI’s Ray2, and Pika’s text-to-video generator, with several of these partners newly added to Firefly’s lineup.
Adobe positions Firefly as a unified platform that simplifies creative workflows by combining multiple generative AI engines in one place. “We built the Firefly app to be the ultimate one-stop shop for creative experimentation,” said Alexandru Costin, Adobe’s VP of generative AI. “Each new partner model adds more flexibility for creators to explore, iterate, and push their ideas further.”

To access all Firefly features and third-party models, users will need an Adobe account and a subscription plan, with mobile plans starting at $4.99 monthly or $49.99 annually. Adobe also emphasizes transparency and content safety, introducing a “nutrition label” system to indicate whether content was created with Firefly AI or partner models.
The Firefly app is now available for download on both iPhone and Android, marking a significant step in making advanced AI-powered creative tools accessible anywhere inspiration strikes.
