Peugeot has officially revived its iconic GTi badge with the launch of the all-electric e-208 GTi—its first electric performance car. Unveiled at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the e-208 GTi marks a bold step into the EV era for a brand long associated with sharp-handling hot hatches.
Drawing inspiration from the legendary 205 GTi of the 1980s, the new electric model builds on the existing e-208 but brings a far more aggressive package. Notable styling tweaks include a new front bumper, a larger rear spoiler, and a race-inspired diffuser tucked beneath the rear bumper. The retro red-and-black GTi badging and a modern interpretation of the classic wheel design round out the homage.

Under the hood—or more accurately, under the floor—the e-208 GTi packs a serious punch. A single electric motor sends 276 horsepower to the front wheels via a limited-slip differential. Peugeot claims it can accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in just 5.7 seconds—enough to edge out rivals like the upcoming Mini JCW Electric and Alpine A290.
The chassis has seen equally significant changes. The GTi sits 30mm lower than the standard e-208 and boasts a wider track—56mm at the front and 27mm at the rear—for improved grip and cornering stability. The suspension has been retuned, and a set of larger front brakes and high-performance Michelin tires have been fitted to keep all that power in check.
Inside, the GTi theme continues with a red-and-black interior that echoes its heritage. The digital cockpit and 10-inch infotainment system are carried over from the standard e-208, but the vibe is clearly more performance-focused.

The battery sees a modest upgrade to 54 kWh, offering a claimed range of up to 217 miles. As always, real-world range will vary depending on how enthusiastically the car is driven. With access to a 100 kW charger, Peugeot says drivers can expect a 20% to 80% recharge in about 30 minutes.
With the e-208 GTi, Peugeot isn’t just paying tribute to its past—it’s aiming to shape the future of small performance EVs. By blending everyday usability with serious power and unmistakable styling cues, this electric hot hatch could offer a compelling alternative for drivers looking to go electric without giving up on fun.
