Oppo Find X8 Ultra debuts with slim design, massive battery, and Pro camera setup

Oppo’s latest flagship, the Find X8 Ultra, pushes the boundaries of what a camera-focused phone can offer—without going overboard on bulk. As smartphone makers like Xiaomi and Vivo continue to bulk up their devices to house massive camera hardware, Oppo takes a slightly more streamlined approach.

Despite packing a large 6.82-inch display and weighing just under 8 ounces, the Find X8 Ultra stands out for its relatively slim 8.78mm profile. It’s notably thinner than its closest competitors, including the Xiaomi 15 Ultra and Vivo X100 Ultra—both known for their heavy camera-centric designs. While a new Vivo X200 Ultra is on the way, early glimpses suggest it won’t slim down much either.

The Oppo Find X8 Ultra is part of a growing trend among Chinese flagship phones focused on professional-grade photography. Unlike some of its bulkier rivals, this model tries to strike a balance between camera performance and everyday usability. It houses four 50-megapixel rear lenses calibrated with Hasselblad’s input, including upgraded 3x and 6x periscope zoom lenses that feature wider apertures for improved low-light performance.

Also built for serious mobile photographers, the device includes a physical shutter button with haptic feedback and zoom controls, plus a customizable shortcut key—replacing the familiar alert slider seen in past Oppo models.

Under the hood, the Find X8 Ultra runs on the new Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, paired with up to 16GB of RAM and a massive 1TB of storage. Battery life isn’t sacrificed either: a 6,100mAh cell—the largest in its class—is paired with 100W wired and 50W wireless charging. The device is IP68 and IP69 rated for durability, ensuring protection against both dust and water.

Oppo also revealed two additional models in the same lineup: the Find X8s and Find X8s Plus. Both are powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 9400 Plus processor. The X8s features a 6.3-inch display and a more compact form, while the X8s Plus steps up to 6.59 inches and includes a 6,000mAh battery.

All three devices, however, are currently exclusive to the Chinese market, with no international release plans confirmed.
