George Clooney has confirmed that Ocean’s 14 is officially moving forward, reuniting much of the original cast nearly two decades after the last installment. Speaking with E! News, Clooney revealed that Warner Bros. has approved the film’s budget and that production could begin in about nine or ten months, placing a potential release sometime in 2027. The update marks the most significant progress the long-rumored sequel has seen in years.
Clooney also shared that key cast members from the original Ocean’s trilogy are expected to return. “Brad [Pitt], Matt [Damon], Don [Cheadle], and Julia [Roberts],” he said, noting that the group remains close friends. Clooney added that he recently had dinner with Roberts and that the prospect of working together again was something they all looked forward to. The actor’s comments suggest that Ocean’s 14 will bring the franchise back to its core ensemble, reuniting the charismatic team that made the series a cultural touchstone for early-2000s heist films.
The Ocean’s series began in 2001 with Steven Soderbergh’s Ocean’s Eleven, a slick reimagining of the 1960 Rat Pack original. The film earned more than $450 million worldwide on an $85 million budget and became a defining hit for both Clooney and Pitt. It spawned two sequels, Ocean’s Twelve (2004) and Ocean’s Thirteen (2007), before the brand was revived in 2018 with Ocean’s 8, a spinoff led by Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, and Anne Hathaway.
While Ocean’s 14 has been discussed for years, it struggled to gain traction until now. The confirmation that Warner Bros. has officially backed the project suggests a renewed interest in the ensemble-driven heist format, which has largely been absent from major studio lineups in recent years. Whether Soderbergh will return to direct has not yet been confirmed.
Clooney and Pitt last appeared together in 2024’s Wolfs, an Apple TV+ thriller directed by Jon Watts. The film, about two rival fixers forced to work together, received solid reviews and initially appeared set for a sequel before creative differences derailed those plans. That collaboration, however, proved that the Clooney-Pitt partnership still resonates with audiences—a dynamic Ocean’s 14 will almost certainly aim to recapture.
If production stays on schedule, the film would likely arrive in theaters in 2027, marking a full 20 years since Ocean’s Thirteen closed out the trilogy. For fans of smart, ensemble-driven crime comedies, the return of Danny Ocean’s crew may signal a welcome throwback to a more stylish era of blockbuster filmmaking.
