Car enthusiasts, rejoice! The legendary Renault 5 is making a comeback, this time as an all-electric supermini.

While the original 5’s production ended in 1996, the new Renault 5 E-Tech Electric is ready for modern city life. The design stays true to its roots, with a retro-futuristic look that updates the classic while adding playful touches like red accents (inspired by the R5 Turbo). It even hides the rear door handles for a sleeker three-door illusion.

The revamped interior is equally charming. Vintage-inspired details like the dashboard and air vents blend seamlessly with a large infotainment screen and customizable driver’s display.

Size-wise, it slots between the Twingo and Clio, with ample space despite its compact form. It rides on the new AmpR Small (CMF-B EV) platform. Expect a choice of two batteries (40 kWh or 52 kWh), with the larger offering a range of up to 400 KM. Fast charging is supported. Other cool features include bidirectional charging to power your gadgets, a heat pump, and even a light-up charging indicator built into the oversized hood logo!

Priced from around €25,000 ($27,000 USD), the new Renault 5 is sure to turn heads. And this is just the start – Renault plans to revive the R4 as an EV too! Let’s hop we see those models hitting the UAE.
