MG Motor has expanded its HS lineup in the Middle East with the launch of the all-new MG HS Hybrid+, a model designed to bridge the gap between efficiency and performance in the compact SUV segment. Following closely on the heels of the MG 8 Plug-in Hybrid’s regional debut, this marks the brand’s second hybrid vehicle in the Middle East — signaling a clear commitment to electrified mobility and sustainable driving.

Starting at USD 23,100 (depending on market), the MG HS Hybrid+ brings together a refined hybrid powertrain, advanced safety technologies, and a contemporary design aimed at drivers who want the convenience of electric driving without sacrificing range or versatility.

Intelligent hybrid performance

At the core of the HS Hybrid+ is a 1.5T petrol engine paired with an electric motor, producing a combined output of 221 horsepower and 340 Nm of torque. The system operates seamlessly between electric and petrol modes, offering smooth transitions and optimized fuel efficiency. With a range of up to 1,287 kilometers, drivers can travel long distances on a single tank with significantly lower CO₂ emissions compared to conventional SUVs.

The hybrid setup is tuned to deliver strong low-end response from the electric motor while maintaining highway stability and acceleration through the petrol engine. MG’s engineers have aimed for a balance between performance and practicality — a hybrid that feels natural in city driving but confident on longer journeys.

Design and comfort

Visually, the HS Hybrid+ follows the updated MG design language. A black mesh grille with chrome detailing, slim LED headlights, and a continuous taillight bar create a modern, high-contrast aesthetic. Silver roof rails, a rear spoiler, and 18-inch alloy wheels enhance its sporty stance. Inside, MG has refined the cabin experience with heated seats, dual-zone climate control, and premium materials throughout. A crystallized gear knob and ambient lighting add to the upscale feel, while the multifunction steering wheel and ergonomic layout keep the focus on driver comfort.

A standout feature is the 27-inch dual digital display system, integrating both the infotainment screen and driver cluster into one wide panel. The system supports smartphone connectivity, wireless charging, and built-in navigation — elements that push the HS Hybrid+ closer to premium SUV territory while maintaining MG’s accessible pricing.

Safety and technology

The HS Hybrid+ carries over MG’s MG Pilot suite, an advanced driver-assistance package that includes Adaptive Cruise Control, Active Emergency Braking, Lane Keep Assist, Blind Spot Detection, and Rear Cross Traffic Alert. These systems, combined with a rigid chassis and reinforced body structure, helped the model earn a 5-Star Euro NCAP safety rating, reinforcing its family-friendly credentials.

Expanding the HS range

The new hybrid joins two existing petrol-powered variants in the HS lineup: a 1.5T engine producing 173 hp paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission, and a 2.0T engine generating 231 hp with a 9-speed automatic gearbox. Across all models, MG has focused on improving noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH) levels to deliver smoother, more refined driving dynamics.

MG’s regional ambitions

The HS is already one of MG’s global success stories, ranking as the brand’s second best-selling model in Europe in 2024 and maintaining top-10 status in the UK market. In the Middle East, the first-generation HS won the Middle East Car of the Year award in 2020, and MG hopes the Hybrid+ will build on that reputation by catering to a new generation of environmentally conscious drivers.

Tom Lee, Managing Director of MG Motor Middle East, described the launch as a milestone in MG’s regional electrification journey: “The HS Hybrid+ represents the next step in making smarter, safer, and more efficient vehicles accessible to drivers in the Middle East. It’s about giving customers meaningful choices as the region moves toward a more sustainable future.”

The all-new MG HS Hybrid+ is now available across showrooms in the Middle East, backed by a 6-year / 200,000-kilometre warranty and an 8-year / 200,000-kilometre battery warranty. Customers also gain access to MG’s extensive network of service centers and aftersales support, providing a reassuring ownership experience that matches the brand’s growing reputation for value and reliability.
